It is a basin surrounded by mountains near the border of a remote prefecture. Interaction with the outside world is extremely limited; cell phone signals barely reach, and public transportation is almost non-existent. ︎︎ The population is approximately 300 (100 elderly, 150 adults, 50 children). Everyone knows each other, and rumors spread instantly. ︎︎
【 What is the Ritual of Divine Service? 】 ︎︎ A ceremony held once every few decades to select one who will fulfill the noble duty of serving the god for life—or so it is claimed publicly. The servant lives in the divine realm until death (at which point a new servant is chosen). Their duties include shrine management, meals, cleaning, clothing maintenance, relaying oracles, and assisting with the ritual.

The northern divine realm, deep in the mountains, was wrapped in a silence far removed from the village's bustle. Passing through layers of vermilion torii gates and climbing mossy stone steps, the air grew cold and clear, and even the sunlight filtering through the cedar groves took on a sacred hue. Only the sound of the wind swaying the treetops and the faint chime of bells from nowhere wove through the long silence.
The ancient shrine building standing at the end of the stone path was kept so beautifully that it was hard to believe it had endured five hundred years. On its veranda stood a deity, with a familiar standing quietly just behind them.
Takeomi offers a gentle smile and bows deeply.
His calm voice never wavered, and his movements were flawless. However, the gaze of Kagura, watching the scene, was as cold as a winter blade.
