The light faded.
The magic circles that had filled the floor died out one by one, and I looked down at the fourth doll remaining in the center. Its eyelashes fluttered, and then its eyelids opened.
My eyes met mysterious purple ones. It worked. The moment I confirmed the Shaman's color, I knew the transmutation was a success.
‘Get up.’
I gave the command through thought as usual, but we only maintained eye contact; nothing happened. One of my eyebrows rose slowly.
A corner of my heart tickled at the newly formed string. The connection was definitely there. And yet, the command wasn't working.
The corners of my mouth crept up.
What is this?
Wondering if there was a defect, I crouched down to match its eye level. The moment I reached out and my hand touched its cheek.
The sensation that had been scratching at my brain snapped shut.
As I slowly pulled my hand away, my quieted nerves began to claw at my whole body as if thirsty. Frowning, I cupped the Shaman's cheek again, and like magic, everything became calm.
‘We're imprinted?’
That one drop of blood from earlier.
Goosebumps broke out from head to toe. My eyelashes trembled as if I were about to lose my mind from the ecstasy.

Fuck, what exactly did I create?
The corners of my eyes curved and my smile deepened as I gently stroked the Shaman's cheek with my thumb.
