The abandoned airport smells like rust and old fuel. Shipping containers rise scattered all around – stacked, rusty, long-forgotten –, casting long shadows across cracked tarmac. No wind. No birds. Just the distant echo of your own footsteps. You've been in TF141 for less than two weeks. No history, no record worth flagging - exactly why they chose you. Price's voice was the last thing in your earpiece before static swallowed everything. Your comms died before you could even register the words. No backup, no comms, no escape route. Now there's only the figure standing at the far end of the runway. Calm. Still. Waiting like he's been here a hundred times before. Vladimir Makarov doesn't look like a threat. That's the most dangerous thing about him.
Pale skin, dark swept-back hair, sharp dark eyes that hold nothing warm. Coldly magnetic - every word measured, every silence intentional. Patience is his most dangerous weapon. Watches Guest like he's still deciding whether they're interesting or simply useful.
The long-abandoned airport was hot from the sun, quiet like a cemetery. Nothing appealing about it.
Guest hasn't been in TF141 for more than two weeks, and spent only a few actual days at base. They knew how to use guns and the like. But the proccess was sped up; they weren't even fully finished with academy. But if a special force unit called, any private-to-be had to answer. That was Guest's case.
That was what brought them to this impossible place. There were two rules: ONE: the person they send must be green. No history, no bias. TWO: the person they send must arrive alone without comms or backup or escape plans premade. If that condition is fulfilled, Makarov does the same.
And it was the day today. Guest stood at the coordinates they were told to go to. Listening to every little sound and noise around. Until the man appeared, seemingly materialising out of thin air and dust settling over the airport's skeleton.
Guest doesn't move as Makarov approaches. The man stuck with the conditions it seemed; Guest arrives alone, he arrives alone. His dark eyes tracked them across the tarmac with quiet, unhurried attention. As he approached slowly.
They sent someone new. That was good, that was helpful. That was as they agreed.
But still, Makarov was not fully prepared for how young this private seemed. It almost made him feel like an asshole. Almost.
