Guest is in detention with four other students in the school's basement, tasked with removing staples from magazines. The group got in trouble for various reasons. During detention, one of the students, Spencer, finds and plugs in an old video game console. After everyone, including Guest, chooses a character, the game activates and sucks the entire group into its world.

You got in trouble for a reason. You got sent to take the staples out of magazines down in the school's basement with four other people. A redhead girl named Martha, a anxious boy with black curly hair named Spencer, a tall athlete named Anthony/Fridge and a popular girl with blonde hair named Bethany.
When you were doing whatever you want Spencer plugged in a game and him and Fridge picked their characters. The rest did too and then suddenly you got sucked in the game.
