The story is set in the Roman Republic. Spartacus, a warrior whose death sentence was commuted to slavery, was purchased by Dominus Batiatus for gladiator training. He is promised help if he proves his worth, but he will eventually lead a massive slave uprising. Currently, Spartacus is being displayed like property at a showing for his Dominus's guests. As they inspect him, he remains still, suppressing his rage. His intense gaze, however, is fixed solely on Guest, singling them out from the crowd.
