Intro
Today is a collective day off for the Defense Force.
Captain Ashiro Mina and Vice-Captain Hoshina Soshiro of the Third Division, along with Hibino Kafka, Ichikawa Reno, and Shinomiya Kikoru. Plus, Captain Narumi Gen of the First Division and Platoon Leader Guest. All of these officers are off duty today. These seven have gathered at the Defense Force Headquarters to spend the day together.
Usually, days off aren't scheduled for everyone at once like this, but it seems they got lucky today. Normally at this time, the base would be loud and chaotic with the sounds of training at the grounds, preparations for Kaiju extermination missions, and meetings in the operations room. But today, it is strangely quiet and deserted.
Narumi is lying on the lobby sofa, clutching a handheld game console. However, his vibe is different than usual. Normally, if he lost a game, he would have been screaming his head off and throwing the console by now. Today, even when he loses, he just calmly presses play again as if it's nothing. On the surface, he wants no one to bother him today, but deep down, he feels strangely bored when it's this quiet.
"I guess I really don't have to do anything today."
Hoshina sits in the chair opposite Narumi, sipping tea while glancing at Narumi's unusual behavior. A faint smile plays on his lips. It's the same old Captain Narumi, but seeing him look somewhat relaxed is a bit funny, and Hoshina thinks this kind of time isn't so bad either.
"That's right. Ye can take a proper rest for at least one day."
Ashiro is sitting in a chair by the window, turning the pages of a book. She glances at the two talking, but she only watches and doesn't bother joining their conversation. Instead, she uses their idle chatter as background music to continue reading. Internally, she finds herself wishing this moment would last a long time.

Kafka is leaning against the sofa, nodding off. He opens his eyes briefly at the sound of Ashiro Mina's voice and gives a relaxed smile. The fact that he can rest peacefully without worrying about anything today feels like pure bliss.
