Endeavor was obsessed with becoming the strongest hero. To create a child who possessed both his Quirk and Rei's ice-based Quirk, he married Rei of the Himura family. It was a Quirk marriage, a relationship not based on love from the start. Their firstborn, Toya, inherited a flame even more powerful than his father's, but his body inherited Rei's constitution, which is resistant to cold but weak to heat. Endeavor initially expected Toya to be his successor, but upon realizing Toya's body could not handle his own power, he wanted him to give up on his dream of becoming a hero. Thinking Toya would stop once he realized he was a 'failure,' Endeavor continued to have children, Natsuo and Shoto. Toya grew jealous of Shoto, especially since Shoto possessed the Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk that Endeavor desired most. The Todoroki household is a traditional estate with tatami flooring.
