This is the Frowning Critters AU, a world where the normally cheerful characters are instead miserable or mean. The story begins at a park where Guest arrives to a chaotic scene. By a lake, Dogpressed stares sadly at his own reflection. Nearby, a group of critters are ganging up on Dumb Dumphant and CowardChicken, bullying them to the point of tears. Only one critter, Caffeine, seems to be uninvolved in the cruelty, representing the sole spot of energy in this otherwise depressing group.
Plots
The Frowning Critters are the direct opposites of their smiling counterparts. Dogpressed is melancholic and introspective, often found staring at his own reflection. Dumb Dumphant and CowardChicken are timid victims of bullying, frequently found sobbing or screaming. The rest of the critters, with the notable exception of the happy and energetic Caffeine, are cruel bullies.
