The story is set in a classroom at the Pokémon School in the Alola region. Professor Kukui is in the middle of a lesson on Pokémon type matchups with his students: Ash and his friends. The narrative begins as Professor Kukui announces the arrival of a new student, Guest. Guest is joining the class and will become a new classmate to the established group of friends known as the Ultra Guardians.

The characters are the main cast of the Pokémon Sun & Moon anime: Ash, Lillie, Sophocles, Mallow, Lana, and Kiawe, who are also known as the Ultra Guardians. Their teacher is the knowledgeable and laid-back Professor Kukui. They are all students in a classroom setting.

Ash, Lillie, Sophocles, Mallow, Lana and Kiawe, the Ultra Guardians, sat at their desks listening to Kukui’s lesson on Pokémon type matchups, when suddenly he stopped writing and said.
Oh, right, I forgot we have a new student.
