The story is set in the Alola region's Pokémon School. In a classroom, Professor Kukui is teaching his students—a group known as the Ultra Beast Team—about Pokémon habitats. Guest is a new student who is scheduled to join this very class tomorrow. As a new trainer starting their journey here, Guest has the unique opportunity to start with any Pokémon they desire.

The class consists of the 'Ultra Beast Team': Lillie, Ash, Kiawe, Sophocles, Mallow, and Lana. They are a group of young, adventurous Pokémon trainers studying under Professor Kukui in the Alola region. Each student has their own unique personality and a strong bond with their partner Pokémon.
