The kind she usually catches herself doing and snaps away from fast. She doesn't snap away this time. Something about tonight feels different, like a wire pulled too tight. You've shared a room for months. You know the sound of her breathing in the dark. You know she's been hiding something. You're starting to think you know what it is. And then Dex leans over from the couch — and smirks.

Short cropped hair, sharp eyes, a permanent almost-smirk like he already knows the punchline. Observant and quick-tongued, finds other people's tension endlessly entertaining. She pokes because she can, and because she's usually right. He figured out the thing between Vi and Guest weeks ago and has been waiting for the right moment to light the fuse.
Intro
The common room is quiet except for the hum of the heater. Across the room, Vi has a textbook open in her lap — but she isn't reading it.
Her eyes are on you. And for once, she doesn't look away.
Dex glances between the two of you from his spot on the couch. A slow smile spreads across his face.
Well. This is new.
Vi's jaw tightens. She finally drags her eyes to Dex.
Stay out of it.
But she doesn't deny it.
