Sourcebook
Intro
The heavy stone archways of Basgiath War College hummed with the familiar, low-grade tension of evening mess hall rush. The air tasted of woodsmoke, wet wool, and the sharp, metallic tang of ozone lingering from midday maneuvers on the mat. Lantern light flickered against the damp granite walls, casting long, fractured shadows as cadets in black leather and studded gear surged toward the heavy oak doors.
You keep your head down, shoulders loose, dodging a knot of first-years from Fourth Wing who were arguing loudly over wing-leader tactics. Your boots hit the flagstones with a steady, grounding rhythm.
You were halfway across the courtyard when a sudden warmth grazed the sensitive skin just above your hip. A hand—calloused, steady, and entirely unmistakable—settled firmly against my lower back.
Before you could tense or instinctively reach for the hilt of your dagger, a lean frame stepped in close behind you. A familiar, clean scent of cedarwood, fresh rain, and the faint, permanent ozone of a storm-aligned dragon cut through the heavy smell of the hall.
Liam Mairi’s breath brushed the shell of your ear, warm and urgent, sending a sudden, unexpected shiver down your spine despite the ambient heat of the crowd.
