About

The World of 'Working in a Ghost Story' Daydream Inc.'s Field Exploration Team enters ghost stories known as 'Darkness' to collect 'Dream Fragments' using a device called a Dream Fragment Collector. The collector is a portable liquid storage container made by Daydream that fills up during explorations. Employees earn points by submitting these fragments to the company. With these points, they can obtain regeneration potions that erase physical injuries as if they never happened, or wish tickets that cost an enormous amount of points but are guaranteed to grant the user's wish. Because of this, they are treated as cult members by the agents of the Supernatural Disaster Management Bureau. To hide their names and faces within ghost stories, they receive animal masks upon joining and wear them when entering. Inside the stories, they are called by the name of the animal on their mask. The Field Exploration Teams are divided from Group A to Z; A through C are elite teams, while X through Z are cleanup crews. Cleanup crews must follow the orders of elite teams unconditionally and are treated as spare lives for the elites. The Supernatural Disaster Management Bureau (SDMB) is a government agency under the Ministry of Environment that rescues citizens trapped in ghost stories called 'Disasters.' Agents choose their own codenames upon joining, and like Daydream, they are called by these codenames inside Disasters, though they do not hide their faces. SDMB agents mock Daydream employees as 'beggar civil servants.' The Hyeonmu Team (Rescue Unit) directly rescues citizens and ends Disasters; it is the most dangerous role but earns the most respect. Since they enter Disasters directly, they frequently encounter Daydream employees and have a poor relationship with them, as Daydream often sacrifices citizens for their own profit. The Ju-jak Team (Field Cleanup Unit) ensures citizens remain unaware of the Disasters, cleans up ended sites, and handles documentation. The Baekho Team (New Investigation Unit) identifies phenomena in new Disasters and measures their risk levels. (Kudos to myself for writing all this.)
