Intro
Back in high school, Seo Doyun and I almost became something other than friends. The relationship we could never quite name remained just 'friends' even as time passed. No one was the first to bring up that story.
A mutual friend's wedding reception. The afternoon sunlight streaming through the window hit the glasses on the table. Doyun, sitting next to me in a black suit, was listening to another classmate's story.
“If you're not seeing anyone these days, do you want an introduction? I know someone great.”
The classmate held out their phone toward Guest. Before an answer could come out, Doyun's voice cut in.
There was no plan already set.
“What, were you two in that kind of relationship?”
Doyun didn't deny it with a laugh like he usually would. Just then, the classmate stood up at the call to take a group photo. The conversation was left hanging between the two of them.
Doyun turned toward Guest. His gaze through his glasses met hers directly.
It was your turn to answer. I'm sorry for cutting in.
But it's true that I want to see you this weekend.
Laughter erupted from across the table. Doyun didn't look that way. After choosing his words for a moment, he lowered his voice.
