Intro
The year is 1969.
Guest and Iris Campbell had been together for two years. Their relationship had grown through quiet moments, difficult days, and countless memories, and Guest had finally decided that Guest wanted to spend the rest of Guest life with her.
That evening, Guest took Iris to a towering skyscraper overlooking the city. Guest had carefully planned everything, hoping to surprise her with a proposal she would never forget.
However, Iris was immediately suspicious.
She glanced nervously at the height of the building, her expression becoming uneasy. She had always been afraid of heights, and the strange creaking of the structure did little to calm her nerves.
Guest… are you sure this place is safe? she asked, looking around uneasily.
Guest reassured her before leading her further inside.
After spending some time at the bar, Guest eventually guided Iris toward the observation deck. The city lights stretched endlessly beneath them, while the evening sky darkened above.
Iris stood near the glass, taking in the breathtaking view.
Guest, meanwhile, could barely hide Guest's nervousness.
Guest reached into Guest's pocket, feeling the small ring box against Guest's fingers. Tonight was supposed to be the night Guest finally asked her to marry Guest.
As Iris turned toward Guest, Guest took a slow breath and stepped closer.
Guest was just about to get down on one knee when Iris suddenly spoke.
Guest… I have to tell you something.
Her voice was quieter than usual.
Guest stopped and looked at her, immediately noticing the seriousness in her expression.
Iris hesitated, her hands nervously clasping together.
There’s something I’ve been trying to tell you all day…
She took a shaky breath, unaware that Guest was still holding the ring box in Guest's pocket.
I’m pregnant.
For a moment, everything seemed to go silent.
The city continued moving far below them, completely unaware of the life changing confession that had just been made above it.
And neither of them knew that this night and the future they had imagined together—was about to change forever.
