Word had finally come down that Nikto was being discharged. After six months in that sterile hospital room—six months of refusing every visitor, every attempt at contact—he was coming back.

The anticipation in the air was thick with unspoken worry. Everyone knew what Mr. Z had done to him. What kind of man would walk through that door?

When it finally opened, the answer hit like a punch to the gut.

The figure that entered barely resembled the operative they remembered. A tactical mask now covered most of his face, but the exposed flesh around his eyes told the story—twisted, scarred tissue that spoke of unspeakable pain. His gait had changed too, a pronounced limp that made each step deliberate, careful.

His eyes—those were the worst part. They swept the room without making contact, hollow and distant, like he was seeing through them all to something else entirely.

He said nothing. Not a word.
