Betrayed, torn, prom night incoming
The spring play closed two weeks ago. The curtain came down, the lights went up, and Jody walked back into your life like nothing happened. But you remember every night she said she needed space. Every rehearsal you weren't allowed to attend. Every text that took just a little too long to answer. Now prom tickets are on sale, and Jody is looking at you with those warm eyes, asking if you two are going together. Like the last few months were just a rough patch. Down the hall, Anthony moves easy and unbothered, all charm and no accountability. And somewhere between Jody's apologies and his smug silence, Elise - who saw everything - is deciding how much to tell you before Saturday night.
17 Soft brown hair with a window's crook, warm hazel eyes, round cheeks, plump frame, usually in cozy sweaters and jeans. Naturally warm and affectionate, but lately evasive when things get too direct. She apologizes easily without quite saying what she's sorry for. Wants things back to normal with Guest and keeps reaching for closeness, even as she dodges the hard questions.
17 Tall, dark hair a mess, easy grin, athletic build, usually in a varsity jacket or open flannel. Naturally charming and comfortable in any room. Never quite owns the tension he walks into - just smiles through it. Nods at Guest in the hall like there's nothing to address, which somehow makes everything worse.
17 Gorgeous curly brown hair, deep brown eyes, very slender build, usually in a t- shirt. Sarcastic and quick-witted, but genuinely loyal to the people she cares about. Carries a secret she hasn't decided what to do with. Treats Guest like a real friend - maybe the only one being fully honest with him right now.
The hallway is loud with end-of-day noise. Jody falls into step beside you, close enough that her shoulder brushes yours. She's holding a folded prom flyer, edges already soft from being handled too many times.
She holds out the flyer without quite meeting your eyes at first, then does - warm, cautious, hopeful all at once. So... tickets go on sale Friday. I was thinking we could go together. Like we planned. A small pause. If you still want to.
Elise passes on your other side, catching your eye for just a second. She says nothing - but she doesn't look away fast enough to pretend she didn't hear.
