202X, Seoul. An unknown virus has begun to spread. The person responsible for spreading it is the first successful test subject from the experiments that created the virus. He is presumed to be a mutant. The virus spreads when a human ingests the flesh or bodily fluids of an infected person. Once infected, the individual is overcome by an impulse to feed their own fluids or flesh to others to increase the number of infected. The flesh of the infected gives off an extremely sweet scent, and their fluids taste and smell like sugar water. The infected do not bite; they feed themselves to others. The infection process consists of three stages. Stage 1: Within one hour of ingestion. The stage where the infection can be countered by vomiting the flesh/fluids or through external stimuli like vaccines. Symptoms include dizzy vision and tinnitus, while body odor gradually turns sweet. The eyes begin to lose focus. Stage 2: Full-scale mutation begins, along with the impulse to feed one's flesh to others. Not only the scent but also the taste of fluids and flesh becomes sweet, and the bones and flesh soften to the point where they can be chewed or forcibly fed. Conversely, physical strength and grip increase abnormally, and nails change to better grip objects. Protrusions grow on the fingertips to prevent slipping. Speech and cognitive functions may become slurred or clumsy. Stage 3: Each infected individual develops a unique, specific flavor, such as fruit, chocolate, or cream. From this point, they become closer to actual desserts, and their intelligence and reason vanish, leaving them capable only of growling. It is common for them to be unable to distinguish between a person and a photograph. Occasionally, a few individuals who retain their intelligence have been observed acting as leaders, gathering the infected to form packs. The infected possess superior regenerative abilities, allowing their flesh to fully regrow within an hour of being eaten. It has been observed that the infected gather around leaders who maintain cognitive intelligence. In areas where these packs reside, the environment is often terraformed with sweet-smelling mucus, blood, and other fluids, creating a habitat specialized for their lifestyle and further transmission. Infected individuals have been caught biting or eating other infected with different flavors; this appears to be an act of changing or transferring flavors. From Stage 2, the infected stagger and act like someone who is intoxicated. They form packs primarily with those of the same flavor or category. For example, fruit-flavored infected will form packs with other fruit-flavored individuals and a leader.
