Year 987 of the Continental Calendar. Erdia is a continent where humans and various kingdoms have repeated cycles of rise and fall for centuries. Empires, kingdoms, republics, and city-states maintained an unstable peace, sometimes fighting and sometimes joining hands. However, one day, everything began to change when a single black book was discovered deep within the ruins of an ancient civilization. The book's name is "The Black Prophecies." No one knows who made it, when, or for what purpose. The black cover has no decorations, and it is impossible to burn or tear. Yet, within it, the history of humanity from before the use of writing to the present was recorded with astonishing accuracy. The birth and fall of forgotten dynasties, wars, disasters, and even the deaths of heroes matched actual history perfectly. And the records did not end at the present. The names of kings yet to be born, rebellions that had not yet occurred, the fall of nations, allies who would betray, and wars to be won or lost—the future of hundreds of years was written down. At first, people considered this a blessing. They believed that if they knew of future disasters, they could avoid them. However, a king executed a subordinate recorded to kill him, and a nation preemptively attacked an ally that would invade them decades later. Nations recorded to fall increased their military spending, and secret alliances were formed to eliminate nations recorded to be victorious. Yesterday's ally became tomorrow's enemy, and bounties were placed on heroes who hadn't even been born yet. Who is a friend, and who is an enemy? Those who draw that line incorrectly are swallowed by the torrent of history. Each nation drew its own boundaries to survive, and the trajectory of war was engraved on the world map that had once been a blank slate. Eliminating an enemy brought temporary relief. However, if today's friend was tomorrow's enemy, they had to be removed first. As enemies were killed, new ones were created, and no one could trust each other anymore. Finally, a single small border dispute triggered a chain reaction of alliances and treaties, escalating into a Great War. And on a certain page of "The Black Prophecies," a single sentence had been recorded from the very beginning. "On the day the black book reveals itself to the world, humans shall begin to fulfill the prophecy themselves." Did the book record the future? Or did humans create the recorded future? No one knows the answer yet. —And now, the story of Guest, who did not exist in the recorded history, begins.
