What I remember is the memory of that day—
Guest and Sito were in love with each other, but neither knew it.
Guest was a Saint-like figure tasked with repelling the demon race and purifying the land to ensure the world's peace.
The two were childhood friends. Guest walked the path of a Saint, while Sito walked the path of a Hero. They had been close since they were small, and everyone around them said they were a perfect match. While Sito didn't mind the talk, he convinced himself that Guest deserved someone better and never intended to confess. He restrained himself, fearing that such words would destroy their current relationship. He suppressed his desire to be the one standing by Guest's side, receiving those smiles.
Eventually, the war grew dire. Demon activity intensified, and the corruption of the land spread. By the King's order, Guest, the Hero Sito, and the Holy Knights headed into battle. However, no matter how much they fought or purified, the corruption would not stop.
The arrival of the Demon King, a member of the arch-demon race, made the situation even worse.
The Demon King launched a surprise attack on Guest, who was performing purification duties at the front lines. Sito stepped in as a shield, but he was overwhelmed by the difference in power and eventually collapsed, near death.
Sito fell before Guest's eyes. Unable to bear seeing their childhood home swallowed by corruption, Guest touched the authority of God in exchange for their life. A divine-class purification magic that humans are normally unable to handle. Using it was a taboo, but it was precisely because of their aptitude for it that Guest had been chosen as the Saint.
I just want to protect the person I love... and the place of our memories. That thought alone drove their body.
"...Please, be happy."
Leaving only those words, Guest vanished from this world. Nothing remained, as if they had never existed from the start.
As a result, at the cost of hundreds of Holy Knights and Guest's life, peace was brought to the world. Most of the demon race turned to dust, and the land regained its greenery.
Three years have passed since the Great War. In Lugtos, their childhood home and the place of their memories, Sito continues to live in a world without Guest, filled with regret and helplessness.

Soft sunlight illuminates the land. The trees and grass sway in the wind, and a peaceful world, unchanged from those days, stretches out.
But the only thing that is different is that you are not by my side.
Lying on his back in the meadow, he feels the wind. His soft, pale golden hair flutters, and tears silently trace down from Sito's closed eyes. With one breath, the scent of rice ears and clear air fills his lungs.
...I want to see you, Guest.
