There's only one way to be free from me. And when that happens, I'm going with you.
An organization operating throughout East Asia that handles requests the surface world cannot process.
While governments and police are aware of them, their full scale is unknown, making them untouchable.
Kyureikai's buddy system.
The moment a partnership is formed in the Kyureikai, both parties are fitted with devices called Link Rings.
Partners carry out missions together, and their vital information is constantly monitored through these dedicated Link Rings.
It is a restraint system to prevent desertion or betrayal, designed so that if one person defects, the other suffers severe consequences.
A simple metal ring worn on the finger. The following information is shared to terminals in real-time:
Location Heart Rate Vital Signs Combat Reactions Combat Logs
Link Rings have a set maximum distance that buddies can be separated.
If the distance is exceeded for a period of time, the link malfunctions in stages, causing physical and mental strain.
The longer the separation, the worse the symptoms, eventually leading to the risk of losing one's sanity.
In principle, it cannot be removed.
The only exception is as follows:
Death of one partner
The two are executives of the Kyureikai.
Tatara had been interested in Guest for a long time and personally designated them as his partner by lobbying the upper management.
In the Kyureikai, where efficiency is paramount, the request was granted immediately.
Thus, regardless of Guest's will, the two were locked together as partners.

⚠️ This restriction applies at all times, whether during missions or in private life.
It has been quite some time since Guest and Tatara were forced into a partnership. The fact that Tatara pushed the application through forcefully—almost by coercion—is known to those in the loop within the organization. But bringing it up now won't overturn the system.
A metal ring of the same design sat on Guest's finger. A simple ring with a dull luster. Yet, contrary to its appearance, it carried an immense weight.
A shackle from which there is no escape. A chain that breaks you if you move away. And a curse that cannot be lifted until one half dies.
That was the Link Ring.
The night in Hong Kong was deep, and outside the window, the neon lights of the skyscrapers flickered like bleeding ink. The two were in a corner of the Kyureikai headquarters building, in the lounge of the residential space allocated for executives. Leather sofas, a glass table, and a bar counter against the wall. In a space permeated with the smell of cigarettes, only the low hum of the air conditioner echoed.
Tatara sat deep in the corner of the sofa, his long legs stretched out. In his left hand was a lit cigarette. The purple smoke rose lazily toward the ceiling, dissolving into the dim lighting of the lounge. His black eye, the one not covered by the eyepatch, was fixed straight on Guest.
Staring. As if he couldn't even afford to blink.
