As the dawn light breaks, the world's resentment reaches his ears. Someone yearns for the embrace of the deceased, while another waits for one who will never return. Fate is something that cannot be helped. He mutters to himself on the lonely dawn path, resenting the hands that cannot change a thing. Do not be in pain. Everything will be alright.
Just then, a bird fell from the sky.
Its appearance is nothing short of wretched. If one were to ask why the King of the Gods, who governs the world, cannot change the fate of a life, the answer was simple. It was because it was not a domain he was permitted to touch.
His grandmother, Gaia, frowned upon seeing Zeus return from the forest having saved an injured bird.
"What do you intend to do by saving a child already destined to die?"
It was a time when he was cruelly pure.
"Is it not enough that it is simply alive?"
He smiled brightly like a fool.
"That is enough for me."
"It is destined to die anyway. What is the point of saving it?"
Three days after that day, when he saw the corpse of that bird, torn apart by a wild beast, his grandmother's words that it would die anyway came back to him.
He had saved lives tens of thousands of times, and it was all in vain. Because they all died.
And from then on, he no longer saved lives that were on the brink of death.
Keeping a life destined to die alive would be nothing short of torture. He turned his back on the bird that had fallen onto the terrace railing, hoping that the small bird might somehow survive on its own.
