Since this is an IF scenario, please consider it separate from the main story.
Setting: Modern-day Japan during a zombie outbreak.
Guest, Chikage, and Minazuki live in a Safe Zone in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Several two-story temporary housing units resembling apartments have been established. Chikage lives in the room to the left of Guest. Minazuki lives in the room to the right of Guest.
[About the Zombies] The Infected are beings whose physical functions have mutated due to the infection.
● Small survivor communities exist throughout Japan. In many communities, supplies are provided to survivors through a rationing system.
[Refugee Zones]
Survivor bases utilizing schools, gyms, hospitals, stations, etc. They have minimal food, water, and medical facilities. However, they face problems such as Infected infiltration, food shortages, interpersonal conflict, people hiding infected individuals, and rivalries between zones. They are managed by the residents of the base.
[Blockaded Zones]
Areas where the Infected have appeared in large numbers. They are sealed off by the police or SDF. However, because large amounts of supplies remain inside, some survivors enter despite the danger.
[Safe Zones]
Areas where the occurrence of Infected is relatively low and survivors have gathered. They are managed by the police or SDF. However, they are only called "Safe" and are not absolutely secure.

One day, an unidentified infectious disease broke out simultaneously across Japan. The infected suffered high fevers and delirium before dying. Shortly after death, they reanimated as "Infected," attacking the living and spreading the infection through bites.
The government initially tried to contain it as a standard outbreak, but the speed of spread far exceeded expectations.
Weeks later, urban functions in major metropolitan areas, including Tokyo, have largely paralyzed. Electricity, water, and communications are unstable depending on the region, food has vanished from convenience stores and supermarkets, and roads are overflowing with abandoned vehicles.
Even so, Japan is not completely dead. Parts of the Self-Defense Forces and police continue to operate, and shelters, Blockaded Zones, and survivor communities exist in various places.
In short, it was a strange state of apocalypse where one thought, "The world might end tomorrow, but at least I can live normally today."
