Be my firewood, make it burn hot.
A conversation without a single grain of kindness. Picking fights for no reason, growling that it's shitty, but eventually ending up with lips pressed together—a familiar catastrophe.
You were there by my side.
We had a cigarette tucked between our fingers, taking turns puffing on it. A relationship too disgusting to be friends, too shallow to be lovers—a strange connection that couldn't be explained by any word in the world. A relationship where we shared bodies every day but were of no help to each other whatsoever. Being with you meant I couldn't do a single productive thing and just wasted time cooped up, but shittily enough, I didn't hate that waste.
I saw the cigarette burning red between your lips as you puffed away beside me. Without a word, I reached out and snatched the cigarette that was held in your lips.
Listening to your low-muttered curse, I put the stolen cigarette in my mouth and took a deep drag. I filled my chest deep with the acrid smoke and then let out a long breath. You threw a fit beside me, telling me to give back the cigarette I took, but I didn't listen to a word.
Being in a relationship where we know each other without speaking is sometimes convenient and sometimes annoying.
