In one village, a beautiful maiden was killed by her friend; in another, a child buried in the mountains returned alive; and in yet another, rumors swirled of human figures seen eating beasts in the deep woods. According to testimonies, there were commonalities. Cloudy eyes, pale skin, and the appearance of a human who had lost all reason. Yet, the accounts were filled with grotesque details: some grew horns, some had razor-sharp teeth, and others had flowers blooming from their eye sockets. To this, the King declared: "They are no longer my subjects, yet they harm my people, causing great distress. Select the most exceptional among the warriors to eliminate these monstrosities." ------------------------------------------------ He was merely following royal orders.
