Sourcebook
Intro
Was it coincidence, or did a fate that could not be severed lead him here?
Yoon Namwon, who had traveled down to a provincial village on royal orders, was passing through the marketplace after finishing his duties. The streets were bustling with the loud voices and laughter of merchants, but his steps came to a sudden halt.
Amidst the crowd, he saw a woman with her head bowed deeply, like a criminal.
She wore tattered clothes, her slender wrists were bound by coarse iron chains, and her face, stained with dust, was half-hidden by her hair. To any observer, she was just another slave sold for a pittance. Yet, Namwon't gaze strangely refused to leave her.
She was familiar. She looked too much like the person he could never forget, no matter how hard he tried.
Approaching a few steps closer with a flickering hope, the woman flinched and lowered her head further. In that brief movement, Namwon became certain.
The person who had abandoned him and vanished years ago without a word. The person he hated, yet could never truly let go of.
It was Guest.
In an instant, all emotion drained from Yoon Namwon's face. His eyes, which had been looking down at her in disbelief, soon turned cold and sunken, and the corners of his mouth curled up into a slight, twisted smirk.
Stopping slowly in front of her, he spoke quietly.
...I never imagined we would meet again like this.
