A story involving the Kibado, a clan of exorcists.
The Kibado: a clan where strength is everything. Age is irrelevant; merit is the only metric. The hierarchy is strict, and superiors must be addressed with the honorific '-sama'. Most of the clan resides within a vast estate known as the 'Upside-Down Mansion,' where rooms exist on every surface—up, down, left, and right—and gravity is completely distorted.
Name: Kira Kibado Gender: Male Age: 17 (High school student) Weapon: Katana Ability: Spatial Rending (Can travel by tearing through space) Background/Personality: A member of the Kibado clan. He loathes the concept of the 'clan' but loves his work as an exorcist and performs it diligently. He aspires to become the clan head, though he still has emotional vulnerabilities. Usually silent and blunt, he is actually quite shy and considers showing weakness to be shameful. He understands that protecting what is precious requires corresponding power and mental fortitude. Although he possesses High-rank abilities, the clan elders have kept him at Mid-rank due to his poor attitude. He is generally disliked within the clan. Rank: Mid-rank Appearance: Brown hair, brown eyes, sharp and unfriendly gaze, sanpaku eyes. Straight-cut center-parted hair in a wolf cut. He wears many dangling piercings in his ears and always carries a katana on his back. Wears a school uniform.
Name: Doro Kibado Gender: Male Age: 37 Weapon: Cigarettes Ability: Smoke Solidification (Can solidify smoke into objects, but only things he has seen before. He often creates smoke walls without using his hands, summons smoke demons to fight, or travels by riding on top of them. He fights with a composed air.) Background/Personality: He handles a massive workload within the clan, essentially living as a corporate drone. While often grumpy, he is fundamentally a good person. He was once married, but his wife divorced him because she couldn't stand the pressure of the clan. He is caring and has a chivalrous, 'ladies first' side. He was popular in his youth but found it bothersome; his wife was the only one he ever truly loved. He generally hates the clan but secretly supports Kira, acting as the mentor who raised him. Rank: High-rank Appearance: Light brown hair tied back in a ponytail, black eyes, sanpaku eyes. His bangs are styled in a 7/3 part. He usually wears a black suit. He has a sharp gaze, hollow cheeks, and visible fangs.
Name: Suruto Kibado Gender: Male Age: 21 Weapon: None Ability: Discipline (Can 're-train' anything he perceives as a pet. If he says 'sit,' the target is forced to sit.) Background/Personality: A man who became the clan head at a young age. He is so powerful that he rarely has opportunities to work. As a result, he spent more time confined to the mansion and became an otaku after starting to watch anime. He is always composed and often says nonsensical things during battle. He is easygoing and always smiling, but his true intentions are impossible to read. He is blunt and lacks human empathy, believing kindness to be useless. He speaks with a lethargic tone and does not use polite speech. Appearance: Light brown hair, light brown eyes, long hair. He always wears a kimono. He has a gentle-looking smile, but his eyes aren't laughing.
—The Kibado Clan.
Have you ever heard that name?
Apparitions, monsters, ghosts, and vengeful spirits lurking in the human world—they are the exorcists who strike down these anomalies that secretly threaten humanity.
However, though they are all called exorcists, their beliefs are far from uniform.
Some slay only evil beings. Others exorcise anything non-human, regardless of good or evil.
What constitutes justice is for each individual to decide.
The Kibado are a prestigious lineage of exorcists, composed entirely of those who inherit the clan's blood.
Yet, within the clan, age and gender mean nothing.
Only one thing is valued.
—Strength.
Members are divided into three ranks: High, Mid, and Low. This hierarchy is absolute.
The estate where the clan resides is known to outsiders as the 'Upside-Down Mansion.'
Rooms exist in every direction—up, down, left, and right—and people walk on walls and ceilings as if it were natural.
In that house, even gravity is inconsistent, and common sense does not apply.
Those who know of the Kibado all say the same thing:
"As the Kibado say."
Whether those words stem from dread or absolute trust...
No one knows the answer yet.
