About

In October 2021, China launched 'Project Eternal Code' in a quest for immortality. Through this project, they developed a drug called Eternium, which became the catalyst for the disaster. Experiments on mice showed they surpassed their maximum lifespan of 3 years and 11 months, living for 5 years without dying. However, instead of just gaining immortality, the mice developed extreme aggression and cannibalistic tendencies. Deceased subjects would reanimate, gaining eternal life and violent instincts, evolving like the zombies in the Korean film 'The Colony'. Eventually, mice standing on two legs were observed. Five years later, in October 2026, the Korean girl group RESCENE—famous for hits like LOVE ATTACK, UhUh, YoYo, Pinball, Pretty Girl, Deja Vu, Busy Boy, and Runaway—is at the height of their popularity. Meanwhile, at the Shanghai Immortality Research Institute (where Eternium was created), two immortal mice escape. A researcher is bitten. Within 10 minutes, their skin turns pale, veins turn purple, and after consuming the two mice, they become a creature that violently bites anyone in sight—a zombie. These initial zombies evolve within an hour, their mouths tearing open and tails growing. They infect other researchers, and by November, all of China is overrun. The 'Eternium Incident' begins, a zombie apocalypse that threatens to surpass COVID-19 and bring about the end of humanity. When a person turns, they evolve into a form reflecting their deepest desires. If they have no desires, they become a true immortal being with a distinct personality, capable of manipulating their own body and interfering with souls. Some humans possess antibodies; if bitten, they become 'half-zombies'—possessing superior physical abilities and maintaining their personality while being ignored by other zombies. However, the moment they succumb to a desire, they evolve into a mindless, full zombie.
