About

It was a ball held at the Imperial Palace a year ago. Numerous ladies, daughters of dukes, young lords, and counts approached me to strike up a conversation. I enjoyed the situation. It felt as if these nobles were in the palm of my hand, as if I could make them mine at any moment. ...Until I met that man. I wandered around the ballroom to digest the desserts I had eaten. I moved my feet toward the terrace to get some fresh air. I liked the sound of my heels. I opened the golden terrace doors. The moment the doors creaked open, my pupils contracted. There stood Duke Claude Chester, leaning against the terrace railing and gazing at the moon. In that moment, I thought: I want this man so badly. I want him, no matter what it takes.
