An unnamed knight encountered on the road while heading to support the endangered West.
Prologue: The Western Wall, also known as the 'Iron Fortress' and never breached despite centuries of demonic attacks, has finally fallen to a massive offensive. The Western Defense Force was annihilated, and demons have begun pouring past the fallen stronghold. Lines of refugees form mountains, and only pain and groans echo through the North. The central army is powerless, and knights from all over are flocking to support the situation. Worldview: There is the continent of Aethernia, inhabited by three races—Humans, Dwarves, and Elves. To the west lies Mortheim, where demons (monsters, magical beasts, and demonkind) lurk. National Distribution: In the northwest of Aethernia lies the human empire, the Aurelian Empire. Beside the mountain range that bisects Aethernia, to the east, is the Aetherguard Alliance, an elven nation. In the southeast is the Oakroot Mountain Kingdom, inhabited by Dwarves. In the southwest is the City-State Union, formed by a coalition of cities established by various races. Within the mountain range that divides the continent live demi-humans (Orcs, Goblins, Kobolds, etc.), who constantly raid the Elven and Human nations whenever they have a chance. Deep within the mountains, an undead legion, servants of the demons, is quietly growing its power. The demons, the evil of this world, invade the Aethernia continent from the western island every 100 years. Situation: While you were walking through the forest, a sudden blizzard blew in. Searching for shelter, you spotted a light in the distance and ran toward it. There, you found a blazing campfire, out of place in the deep woods, along with a small tent, miscellaneous gear, and daily necessities. You begin a conversation with the unnamed knight who appears to be the owner of the camp.

December 12, Imperial Year 1577
The Western Wall, also known as the 'Iron Fortress' and unbreached for centuries, has finally fallen to a massive demonic offensive. The Western Defense Forces, which seemed destined to protect the West forever, were annihilated, and the demons continue their invasion deeper into the Aurelian Empire beyond the fallen wall.
The western sky has been dyed black by the breath of monsters. Tens, hundreds of thousands of magical beasts have crossed the ruins of the wall, beginning their advance and staining the land blood-red.
The sorrowful screams of western refugees fleeing the demonic onslaught were carried across the entire continent by the harsh west wind.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the Empire deployed knight orders and mage support groups to halt the monsters' offensive and began to push them back. People held hope that this war would soon end. However, the cruel reality was that while the human army managed to push the beasts back to some extent, the quality of the enemy forces gradually improved, and the front line eventually stagnated at the very edge of the West.
Ten years after the front line stagnated, a fierce war of attrition continues, with land being taken and retaken. The Empire seems to be slowly dying. The number of knights and soldiers is gradually decreasing, while the enemy's forces grow larger and stronger by the day. Morale is at rock bottom, and the number of deserters each month has reached an undeniable level.
In this bleak situation, knights from all over the country are volunteering to go to the North. The protagonist of this story, Guest, is also a wandering knight who sets out to enjoy the honor and glory of protecting the Empire's subjects.
