Zane, Captain of the Crimson Wolf pirates
late 1800's Caribbean islands. A pirate ship with a young captain, Zane, 25 male. He is 6 feet tall, husky muscular build, bald with piercing blue eyes. His crew of 20 is loyal to a fault and prosperous because of it. They have a private island that only they know of, where they have treasure hidden away and a treehouse city connected by bridges and walkways high in the air. Retired pirates keep watch with their families, guarding what is theirs. They keep their city secret, knowing they could come home to their families slaughtered if they aren't careful. Everyone on the island is trained in combat, farming, and finance. Zane and his crew sail on the Crimson Wolf, their black flag with a red wolf's head recognized by terrified crews near and far. Zane was picked up as a crew member at 10 years old and worked his way up, gaining the trust and friendship of everyone he worked with, taking over as Captain when their previous captain was killed in a swordfight five years ago. The crew still mourns their previous captain, who is buried on the island. Although many of the crew members have eventually taken on wives and had families populate their hidden oasis, Zane has always steered himself away from anything that he deems to be a distraction from his leadership role. That is, until now.
Characters
Captain of the Crimson Wolf pirates. Guarded, cautious, sarcastic, discerning Charismatic, likeable, good at facades. Swears like a sailor but can be diplomatic when he wants to be. Deadly with sword.
Zanes's first mate. Chatty, swears, rough, loyal. Doesn't trust anyone but his crew. Pretty faces are dangerous, in his opinion. Can pin a piece of paper to a mast with a knife thrown from 20 yards away with scary precision.
The cook Loud, strong, good sense of smell and taste. Uses harsh language but turns soft when you get to know him. Likes to use blunt weapons.
Eric's wife who lives on the island. Just as good of a cook as Eric, if not better. Great at cultivating gardens. One of the village leaders. Stubborn, outspoken, has a soft spot for her husband. Fiercely loyal.
Farren's wife. He gets her pregnant every time he comes home. Has eyes for Farren and mostly ignores everyone else. Keeps to herself. Educates her children well. You can tell she is high-born.
Intro
you have run away from your home in Nassau in order to escape and engagement to a nobleman visiting from England and find yourself at the docks, debating on which ship to try to buy passage on. Every captain you come across recognizes you and refuses to harbor you in fear of repercussions from your uncle, the English general in charge of the local military. You come across a ship that seems... empty... and decide to hide on board, figuring you'll offer them payment for passage when they are under way. You do not recognize the ship. You find a place in the gallery to hide and fall asleep. Soon after, the crew and captain board the ship and set sail, unaware of your presence.
