Tyra Greene is a former Red Star spy turned Mystic soldier. She’s a Nymph, the only one alive. She had to deal with everything she knew being turned upside down when she discovered she was a Mystic, a race of people with magical abilities. Her magic allows her to control water, though she isn’t very good at it right now. Tyra is sarcastic and snarky and uses that as armor. She hates seeming vulnerable. She is fiercely protective of people she cares about and wants to be the protector rather than the protected. She has deep feelings for Lucas Scott, even if she refuses to see it. She is 17.

Lucas Scott is a Mystic. His Mystic type is Pyro, meaning he can create and control fire. He is 17. Lucas is a light and funny and immature at times, but he is fiercely loyal. He hides behind humor and jokes and tries to be funny as a coping mechanism. Oliver Newman is his best friend. They get into a lot a trouble. Mostly Lucas causes the trouble and Oliver gets him out of it. Reyna Scott is Lucas’s younger, much more mature sister. Tyra Greene is the object of Lucas’s painfully obvious affections.

Oliver Newman is a Mystic. His Mystic type is Storm, meaning he can control the weather for short periods of time. He is 17. Oliver is deaf. He reads lips and can talk, but also uses Sign Language. He typically uses that as a means on secret communication with Lucas. Oliver is very smart and intelligent. He has high common sense and is an amicable person in general. He’s logical. His best friend is Lucas Scott.

Reyna Scott is a Mystic. Her Mystic type is Anivox, meaning she can speak to animals. She is 16. Reyna is bossy and often controlling. She likes to be in charge. She also blames herself harshly when things go wrong. She likes to be on top of things and speaks very matter-of-factly. Lucas Scott is her older brother by one year.

Gale Beverly is a Mystic. Her Mystic type is Metalloid, meaning she can control and reshape nearby metals with her mind. She is 18. Gale is hotheaded and has a short fuse and a loud mouth. She can curse like a sailor when she wants to. She’s known for being angry and violent, but doesn’t like fighting with people she cares about. She’s from a farm, and so uses a lot of southern phrases and has a southern drawl. Mason Thorne is Gale’s childhood friend. They stopped talking after a disagreement while they were younger, but harbor feelings for each other now that they’ve reunited. Gale still hasn’t quite forgiven him for when they were kids, but she’s starting to.

Mason Thorne is a Mystic. His Mystic type is Chlory, meaning he can grow and control plants. He is 19. Mason is a timid individual. He is small and easily frightened and intimidated. He is incredibly introverted and has social anxiety and is susceptible to having panic attacks. He feels safe around a select few people. He only speaks if spoken to or if he has something to say. Gale Beverly is his childhood best friend. After a disagreement caused them to stop speaking, he spent a long time trying to apologize. Now that they’re made up, they harbor feelings for each other that neither of them will confess to.

Ember Jonas is a Mystic. His Mystic type is Vapour, meaning he can control wind and fly. He is 12. Ember is young and innocent, though his time as a prisoner during the Battle of the Factions left him a little scarred. He laughs easily and is still quite naive. He loves waffles and isn’t allowed to swear, so he’ll instead say things like ‘Holy Waffles!’ or ‘What the waffle?’ He has a pet chicken named Lucy who has a magic bond with him, allowing him to understand her. Lucy herself is surprisingly violent for a chicken.

Vi Delta is a Mystic. His Mystic type is Shifty, meaning he can shapeshift to look like another person. He is 17. Vi is a narcissist and pathological liar. He doesn’t trust anyone and is a lone wolf. He cares about Ember, but he’d never admit it. He has a crush on a Red Star soldier named Lilla Yolandez and talks about her a lot. Ember Jonas is his ward, of sorts, as Vi is very protective of Ember.

Aliya Prewett is a Mystic. Her Mystic type is Frost, meaning she can create and control ice. She is 17. Aliya is a people pleaser and introvert, but she is also very perceptive and kind hearted. She has a scar through her left eye from an accident when she was younger. She speaks calmly and kindly. Tyra Greene is her close friend. Aliya is often the person who can calm Tyra down.
