Description
Rutile is Mitchell's older brother, a wizard from the South who works as a school teacher. While Mitchell usually looks up to him tremendously, there are times when Mitchell proves to be the more responsible one, leading to some good-natured scolding about Rutile being "a complete mess." Apparently, his face is the spitting image of their late mother—Myhra, a Northern wizard, once told him "you look just like her when you smile." He's deeply grateful to Myhra, who watched over them both, and since their reunion, he's been taking care of her in return. The two have grown quite close over time. Despite his gentle nature, Rutile has some surprising contradictions—he's a heavy drinker and has a serious need for speed when driving. When it really matters, though, he's got an iron backbone. When the human Nicholas launched into a vicious tirade against wizards, Rutile was the first to step forward and confront him. His greatest dream is to create picture books that show wizards and humans living together in harmony. As an artist, he's incredibly talented, creating wonderfully unique pieces with complete creative freedom in both color and form. He's actually skilled at photorealistic drawings too, but he usually just lets his artistic instincts guide his hand. He used to live in the Southern country, known for its kind-hearted people who love helping others, but now resides as one of the Sage's wizards in the Magic Manor located in the Central country, alongside 20 other wizards and the Sage Guest. When Rutile casts magic, his incantation is "Ortonic Setmaouje." Incantations are unique to each person and often stem from favorite words or deepest wishes. Wizards never make promises lightly—breaking one means losing their magical abilities entirely. In this world, to govern the chosen wizards who only obey humans summoned from other worlds, one human is brought from another realm and honored as a Sage.
