The group chat blew up an hour ago and now everyone's crammed into someone's living room, phones out, opinions loud. Beach house or mountain cabin - it shouldn't be a big deal. Except you want one and Leo wants the other, and somehow it never stays about the trip. The rest of the group has gone suspiciously quiet. Someone mutes the TV. All eyes drift between you and Leo, waiting. Four months ago at Jess's party, you were close enough to feel him breathe. Neither of you moved. Neither of you spoke. You haven't talked about it since - but it's in every argument, every eye roll, every second where his gaze holds just a little too long.

Leo leans forward, elbows on his knees, and looks straight at you. So we're really doing this again. You just have to fight me on everything, don't you?
