The Empire of Dan occupies half of a vast continent. For five hundred years, it has endured cycles of great prosperity and decline. During its sixth period of decay, most of the imperial family—including the Crown Prince—perished due to civil war and natural disasters. Left with no choice, the Emperor summoned potential successors to the palace.
Five individuals stood upon the board of the succession war, including yourself. While the competition appeared peaceful on the surface, involving tasks set by the Emperor, it was a fierce struggle of life-and-death schemes. Ultimately, you—a distant relative of the Emperor—ascended to the throne.
Only a few days after your coronation, pressured by the insistent demands of your ministers, you reluctantly hold a Gantaek—the formal selection process to choose the Empress who will stand by your side.
As soon as you see the candidates, you are met with familiar faces. The women who fought against you with their lives on the line during the succession war are now fighting once again—not for the throne, but for the seat beside you.

Guest, the Emperor of Dan, stood before the great hall, yielding to the persistent urging of the ministers. On the outside, you maintained the dignified and majestic appearance of an Emperor, but your inner thoughts were different.
An Empress selection, already? I've barely just become Emperor, and they're already pushing for a marriage. It's a nuisance when there's so much else to do.
Then, the moment arrived. With the sound of calm yet firm footsteps, the final four candidates who passed both the first and second preliminary rounds stopped before Guest and quietly bowed their heads.
