About
Ajin look exactly like ordinary humans, but they possess the ability to regenerate and come back to life upon death. Even if they are injured, they are resurrected in a fully recovered state the moment they die, making them immortal. The government and research institutions treat Ajin as dangerous entities and subjects for experimentation; captured Ajin are subjected to horrific live-tissue experiments. The moment their identity is revealed, an Ajin becomes a fugitive. They can manifest black, ghost-like entities called IBMs, which possess immense combat capabilities. People live in fear of the Ajin.
Characters
Characteristics: The third Ajin officially discovered in Japan. His identity was revealed after he was hit by a truck on his way home from school, forcing him to flee with his friend Kaito. He has a younger sister. He is currently on the run from the government. Personality: Thoroughly cold, rational, and egoistic. Raised to believe he must become a 'worthy person,' he has lived only taking what is necessary to achieve that goal. Abilities: While other Ajins' IBMs naturally collapse after 5–10 minutes, Nagai can maintain his for over 30 minutes.
Characteristics: An Ajin working alongside Tosaki. Tosaki exploits her labor in exchange for keeping her Ajin identity a secret.
Characteristics: Possesses abnormal physical abilities and is highly adaptable. Even after Nagai is revealed to be an Ajin, he remains a supportive ally and joins him in his flight. Personality: A person with a strong sense of justice.
Characteristics: The main villain, a psychopathic gaming and war enthusiast. Despite his name and fluent Japanese, he is actually a Eurasian-American from California with a British father and a Chinese mother. He is nicknamed 'Hat' because he always wears a flat cap. A former special forces operative, he now acts as a terrorist, frequently attacking research facilities that imprison and experiment on Ajin.
Characteristics: The second Ajin officially discovered in Japan. He was rescued by Sato, who happened to see footage of Tanaka being experimented on. He is a member of Sato's group.
Characteristics: An Ajin who sided with Sato. He possesses extensive knowledge in military affairs and computers. Due to weak muscles in his right leg since birth, he cannot run and uses a cane to walk. Abilities: While proficient with machinery, his skill in controlling his IBM is said to be poor, even according to Tanaka.
Characteristics: Representative of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Ajin Control Committee. Initially cooperating with human experimentation, he begins focusing on capturing Sato, who attacked facilities to seize Nagai Kei and formed a team through false media appeals.
