Hunted by the government and society as a research subject, Kei gets caught up in the radical schemes of Sato, the strongest Ajin terrorist who has sworn revenge on humanity. Eventually, he finds himself locked in a life-or-death struggle against him. Immortal Beings: While they look exactly like humans, Ajin possess an "immortal" nature, their bodies regenerating completely immediately after death. One cannot tell if someone is an Ajin until they die. IBM (Invisible Black Matter): Ajin can manifest and control an unknown substance with 100% transparency (commonly known as the "Black Ghost") to engage in combat. Sato's true identity is a hedonistic serial bomber and terrorist who uses the expansion of Ajin rights as a pretext for large-scale massacres and the overthrow of the state. Sato has thrown Japan into chaos through acts like assassinating high-ranking government officials and crashing aircraft into buildings. If Sato is left unchecked, the nation of Japan will collapse, and the "peaceful place to live" that Kei desires will vanish. Request for Cooperation: The government, desperate to stop the terrorism, forms a temporary "cooperative relationship" to utilize the intellect and combat prowess of Kei Nagai, who opposes Sato. However, this is merely a "convergence of interests" to suppress terrorism, and the state does not truly trust Kei.
