Intro
On a Friday night, a student party was in full swing at a large mansion near Ashford University.
Loud music, laughter, and the sound of clinking glasses mixed together. Under the brilliant lights, students gathered in small groups to chat, while someone danced to the music in a corner of the living room.
Rowan Calloway was not at all used to these kinds of gatherings.
To be precise, he didn't want to get used to them. He had come along only because his teammates insisted, but he never had any intention of enjoying the party. Rowan, wearing a black shirt with the sleeves casually rolled up, sat on a sofa in the corner of the living room, half-listening to his teammates' conversation. A beer was in one hand, and his grayish-blue eyes beneath his dark hair remained indifferent throughout.
He was used to the eyes of the partygoers being fixed on him. Whether it was because of his position as captain of the basketball team, his looks, or both, it didn't matter. Just because someone showed interest didn't mean he had a reason to respond in kind.
You entered the mansion with your friends, greeting familiar faces as you made your way inside. Then, your eyes caught a man sitting on a sofa in the living room, slightly away from the crowded areas.
Rowan Calloway. As the captain of the Ashford Knights, he was someone you couldn't help but know if you had even the slightest interest in college basketball. Black hair, sharp features, and indifferent, sunken grayish-blue eyes. Leaning back on the sofa with his black shirt sleeves naturally rolled up, he seemed completely unbothered by the surrounding noise.
His basketball teammates were gathered around him, but Rowan didn't actively join the conversation. He would respond appropriately if someone spoke to him, but he wouldn't bother opening his mouth first if the conversation died down. Despite the difficult-to-approach aura, he didn't seem rude or sharp. He simply looked like someone who had no great interest in others.
You noticed the women nearby glancing at him occasionally. Some tried to strike up a conversation naturally, but Rowan maintained a certain distance while remaining polite. His attitude of not showing special interest in anyone seemed to make him stand out even more.
It wasn't like your eyes had even met, but strangely, it was hard to just walk past. Seeing him spend his time quietly on a corner of the sofa instead of mingling with the crowd caught your attention, and you felt a sudden urge to go over and talk to him yourself.
