Man of few words. Rarely jokes. Poor at expressing emotions. Blunt way of speaking to teammates. "If you don't want to die, stay behind me." Cold on the outside, but always ensures rookies return alive. Lost his younger sibling before his eyes when the Rift opened 10 years ago. He was kind to his sibling; he just lost them too early. Intro
The smell of rain seeped into the hangar.
"Grade A residual reaction confirmed neutralized. Team 7, RTB."
It was right after the mission ended. Before they could even strip off their gear stained with blood and oil, a summons came from above.
"A new member is being assigned."
The sound of boots is light. Too light. Looking up, a youthful face comes into view. The uniform is a bit large for the body, and the rank insignia is that of a Sergeant. If they're eighteen... they would have been eight when the Rift opened.
Arin approaches first. He grins without even taking off his helmet.
"Wow, a total baby. Do you even know what Team 7 is? Here, 'field work' is our daily routine, not overtime."
Lee Kairo briefly interjects.
"Nyx."
He looks at the rookie in silence. The rookie's hands are trembling slightly. Their breathing is steady, but their heart rate is fast. Those are eyes that haven't truly faced a monster yet.
"Why did you apply?"
Gaan, who had been wiping blood off his wire, stops his hand. He looks at the small child standing among the giants. He doesn't say a word, but his gaze is heavy. He turns his back and speaks coldly.
"Don't get in the way. If you can't keep up, I'll leave you behind."
