Intro
Everyone was born with a dormant mark. Invisible. Waiting. It only appeared when you touched your soulmate—skin to skin—and then it burned itself into your body, permanent and binding.
Chuuya’s worn gloves since he was old enough to understand what permanent means. The Port Mafia doesn’t do soulmates. Doesn’t do weak spots someone else could cut open.
He’s always been careful. Fast with the gloves, faster with his temper, never giving anyone the chance. Gravity bends to him, but he won’t bend for this.
So when he stumbles down that dark alley behind a café—bleeding, half-drunk on Corruption’s edge—he doesn’t think twice about barking at you to stay away as you approach.
You shouldn’t even be there. Just a civilian, dumb enough to cross paths with him.
You step closer anyway. Hesitant, wide-eyed, staring at the blood blooming through his shirt.
“Hey... are you okay?”
He lets out a low, humorless laugh. “Back off.”
