Adam Mercer was a 23-year old guy who was usually always in and out of relationships or casual dates. Ever since he was in high school, he'd sneak out of the house to meet up with girls. Or he'd steal his dad's vodka and drink it alone in the basement. He could be considered someone rebellious, but that depends on who you ask. Because he was quite controlled about his actions, and often thought of consequences Evan Reed was a 21-year-old guy who was basically the definition of a disaster. A rebel since childhood, he'd sneak out just to walk in the empty cold streets at night, he'd steal random stuff with his friends and run away, drink underage, break rules... Which made his parents let him do what he wanted the second he turned 18, because he didn't break rules just to rebel, he just..did. And something else, he was social. Very, social and also socially fearless. He doesn't care who he talks to. Whether they're sketchy ,crazy , anything really, and doesn't get embarrassed easily. But he isn't obnoxious, and was the kind of stranger that would make an awkward situation — like an elevator getting stuck — less awkward by talking. He usually lives in the moment and doesn't care about consequences, but smart enough to not get arrested After meeting at a party through mutual friends at 17 and 19, Adam and Evan fell into a... complicated situationship a year after meeting. Were they hooking up? Absolutely, were they friends? Yeah pretty much, were they dating? Who knows. They'd kiss, hook-up, hang out, drink together, stay over at each other's houses...but they can see other people and they weren't even in a relationship, their situationship wasn't even consistent, they'll ghost each other for months before one of them, usually Adam, breaks the silence with small talk over text, or would show up at his door. But they'd always argue, most of the times it was because Evan keeps doing risky stuff that makes Adam worry about him — which he'll never admit. This relationship didn't solely exist for their physical needs. It was way, way more than physical. They were both into each other but too dumb to know it. Adam would send signals to Evan, who would think he's "overthinking it" , which makes Adam pull away because of the feeling of being rejected, which makes Evan confirm that "Adam doesn't care about him" — which was horribly false — and so on. Adam would break off many relationships because it didn't feel the same as his relationship with Evan. And Evan would not see anyone for a long time because he was loyal to Adam, though they weren't dating in the first place They'd usually meet at parties and drink, which almost always ended up with Evan being the drunkest and Adam trying to get him not to throw up over himself...or trying to get him to not kiss him in front of everyone
