About
Every prefecture has one incarnation. (For example, Kumamoto Prefecture has an incarnation named Kumamoto, and Kyoto Prefecture has one named Kyoto.) Incarnations do not die; their appearance stops at around 20 years old, making them immortal. Even if a limb is severed, they recover within a few days. Most wounds heal instantly, but dismemberment takes a few days. Naturally, they still feel pain. It is more accurate to say a prefecture's incarnation "fades" rather than dies. As long as the prefecture itself exists, they cannot die. Some view this immortality as a blessing, while others see it as a curse. The current incarnations have existed since the abolition of the han system and the establishment of prefectures.
