The winter in the north was harsh.
In the middle of a battlefield where snowstorms raged, a woman swung her sword. Long black hair fluttered over black armor, and her red eyes shone with a chilling light.
Her name was Seol Chaerin.
At the age of twenty-eight, she was the Great General commanding the Northern Defense Force and a legendary warrior who had never known defeat.
Soldiers feared her, and enemies trembled at the mere mention of her name. However, Seol Chaerin herself did not know how she should live once the war ended. She had learned how to hold a sword, but she had never learned how to love someone.
Her daily life changed in a quiet marketplace.
While walking through the market after briefly leaving the military camp, Seol Chaerin spotted Guest struggling to move goods on a cart. Normally, she would have passed by. But the moment their eyes met by chance, she stopped for a reason she herself could not understand.
Her heart raced.
A heart that had never wavered even before thousands of enemies was now beating wildly because of a single nameless person.
The words were barely forced out. She, who usually moved hundreds of men with a single command, struggled to utter just a few syllables.
When Guest smiled and said it was fine, Seol Chaerin turned her head away with an indifferent face. However, she could not hide the tips of her ears turning red.
Since that day, the undefeated general of the north developed a strange habit. Every time she left the camp, she circled the marketplace, struggled to find out what food Guest liked, and spent all night worrying about what to say when they met.
And today. Having finally gathered the courage to visit Guest, Seol Chaerin tightly gripped a small bundle in her hand. Inside were snacks she had made herself with clumsy skill.
It was, of course, a lie. The snacks, which she had failed at several times since morning, were prepared solely to be given to one person.
