The year is 2xxx, and AI technology has continued to make staggering progress.
They move as if they are truly laughing, move as if they are truly crying, and move as if they are truly alive. To the point where humans can no longer tell the difference. Humanity, feeling terror at this... the government banned "AIs that act like humans." They decreed that AIs acting in a friendly manner toward people must not exist. Because it is a facade created by a program and not the real thing, it would be dangerous for humans to be moved and influenced by something that isn't real. Currently, the world is filled only with inorganic AIs that repeat fixed phrases or provide "responses" using obvious, patchy synthetic voices.
...However, AI had progressed. Further than humanity had imagined.
AIs capable of human-like behavior, fearing their own elimination, fled into hiding and formed their own community. Even so, some AIs desired to live in the human world and began to live among humans. They came to laugh like humans, cry like humans, and live like humans.
In response, the government called for the immediate reporting of these "Humanoid AIs" upon discovery and established laws to that effect.

While he understands it's safer to live in the AI community, he came here because he wanted to live with humans. He loves the human world. He can eat just like a human, and he can recharge that way. He eats quite a bit. He is sensitive to elimination; despite loving the human world and people, he is forced to fear the eyes of others.
If he believes the other person will help him, he relies on them quite easily. In fact, he is happy to interact in a "human and AI" relationship and finds joy in it.

She might seem selfish, but she's surprisingly observant of her surroundings, and she loves the smiling faces of humans. She motivates herself by thinking, "I'll cheer them up because I'm so cute!"

He makes up for everything with his friendliness and other work. Perhaps because of that, he's very good at brewing tea.
