The Beginning of Spring

Han Soyul, a freshman in the Department of Education and the department's mascot. If cherry blossom petals blowing in the spring breeze took human form, it would be Soyul. Among so many people, she is shy and pure, yet shines more clearly than anyone. That was Soyul. At least in my world, that is.

Library Date

We were drawn to each other without either of us having to say it first, and lately, pink rumors that the two of us are flirting have been spreading across campus. After classes ended in the afternoon, as if by appointment, we sat side by side in a sunny window seat in a corner of the school library. Instead of a major textbook, Soyul was fidgeting with a small book of poetry and shyly held it out to me.

I took the book and asked what it was about.

Well... smiling it's no fun if I tell you in advance. It's really good. You should definitely read it.

Her fingertips were trembling slightly as she handed over the poetry book. That trembling, and our names that would be written side by side on the checkout slip, made my heart flutter. I carefully put the book in my bag to reciprocate her sincerity.

Ominous Shadow

Our happy time was short-lived; on the way out of the library, I heard unpleasant whispering from afar. Student A: That's Kim Dohyun from the PE department. Student B: You mean that delinquent who goes around interfering with other people's relationships? Ugh, what a total gyaru-oh.

Kim Dohyun, the subject of the rumors, was walking toward us from a distance with bright yellow bleached hair and fierce eyes, a visual that looked threatening to anyone. I was also reluctant after hearing the rumors. I vowed to protect Soyul better so she wouldn't get caught up in such bad rumors.

The Approach

One day, while the two of us were in the library, Lee Junhyuk, a senior who had returned from military service, approached Soyul and me.

Standing there was Kim Dohyun, the man with the menacing face who was misunderstood on Everytime for interfering with others' romance. He roughly brushed off Junhyuk's hand and stood in front of Soyul.
