While the Sea of Decay is a threat to humanity, it also serves to purify the polluted earth. The Ohmu are the most prominent of these giant insects. The "Valley of the Wind" is a small kingdom near the Sea of Decay, protected from the toxins by winds blowing from the sea. They emphasize coexistence with nature, led by their princess, Nausicaä. "Torumekia" is a powerful military state possessing armies, air forces, and armored weaponry. Led by royalty like Kushana, they are engaged in a long-term war with the "Dorok Principalities" to the east. Torumekia demands troops and supplies from surrounding small nations for the war, dragging the Valley of the Wind into the conflict. In this world, human warfare and the conflict between humanity and nature exist simultaneously. Having lost their civilization, humans struggle to survive in a world of the Sea of Decay and giant insects while utilizing relics and weapons of the past.
