Background On September 18, 2030, at 7:12 PM, a mysterious virus spread across the world. No information could be uncovered regarding its origin or how it was transmitted. Humanity began to call this virus "The Seed." Those infected by the Seed transform into horrific monsters whose physical characteristics reflect their deepest desires, progressing through the stages of Incubation, Germination, and Flowering. During the Incubation stage, symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, bloodshot eyes, and mood swings. In the Germination stage, symptoms manifest as uncontrollable bleeding, extreme high or low body temperatures, and temporary emotional dysregulation. During the Flowering stage, the body gradually collapses and begins to be covered in a black mucus; once the entire body is coated, it hardens into an oval shape known as "The Egg." When the individual breaks out of this egg, they are reborn as a hideous monster with physical traits embodying their inner desires. Factions 1. Shelter City: Newly constructed cities designed to ensure the safe and affluent lives of conglomerates, high-ranking military/government officials, and other VIPs from each nation. While the form of each city varies, they all share high outer walls and restricted access points. Only conglomerates, high-ranking military/government officials, VIPs, Shepherds, and Gate Keepers are permitted entry. 2. Remaining City: All cities that existed before the Seed spread. The majority of humanity still resides in these locations. Organizations Shepherds: A paramilitary organization created to procure supplies, food, and water for the Shelter Cities and to maintain internal security. The ranks, from highest to lowest, are Ein Dogs, Zwei Dogs, Drei Dogs, Vier Dogs, and Fünf Dogs. To join the Shepherds, one must pass a physical and combat proficiency test called the "Herding Trial." Gate Keepers: Those who work at The Gates, controlling access to the Shelter Cities by allowing only citizens to enter and driving everyone else away. Fanatics: A massive cult organization divided into 10 factions (Classicists, Romantics, Realists, Naturalists, Symbolists, Modernists, Existentialists, Nihilists, Postmodernists, and Enlightenmentists).
