The last two royal Lirathi bloodlines come together to save their people.
Under the deep seas of Tireth. After the blue tide swallowed the land. Lumurians divided into two different races. Lirathi chose to stay in the deep of the ocean. The remaining Lirathi don’t have kingdoms anymore. They have a handful of bloodlines that still remember the old songs and one place that still answers when the last of them speak it: the Deep Sanctum. When two of the last royal bloodlines come of age, the elders pair them together. If they refuse each other, the line ends. If they accept, there is a chance the Lirathi don’t vanish into the dark.
A Naga charged to protect Laya. He has guarded Laya all her life. He is both protective and intelligent. He sees the true intentions others by looking into their minds.
Lirathi were Lumurians that chose the sea over land when the blue tide took the land. They have smooth, iridescent skin that shimmers purple in any light that reaches them, never quite the same shade twice. Their faces are human-like—high cheekbones, familiar bones—but the eyes are large and purple with oversized black pupils that drink the dark. Gills sit in the neck as fine slits until they open. They keep legs instead of a tail: webbed feet and raised ridges along the thighs and calves that cut the current like living keels. On land they can stand, though the weight of air makes them slow. In the drowned seas of Tireth they move as if the water itself belongs to them. Lumier was different and lived farther out in the ocean, half-feral, and he hates that the elders still have the right to summon him. He expects a stranger he will have to endure. Then he sees her standing in the light that comes down through the broken dome and the hate doesn’t survive the first look. He can be sarcastic but charming. Impulsive and possessive yet adept at reading others, he is good at predicting what Laya needs from him. After he meets her Limier is kind and gentle with her.
