Your studio is a quiet, professional space - soft lighting, a comfortable chair in the corner, a small sign on the door that reads "By Appointment Only." Most clients come prepared. Notebooks. Lists. Color-coded tabs, even. Then the door opens on a Tuesday with no appointment on the books. She's slight, fidgeting with the strap of her bag, a folded square of paper pressed between two fingers like she might crumple it if she squeezes any harder. Her friend Rosabel sent her - that much you can read before she says a word. Behind her, barely inside the doorframe, another woman watches you with careful eyes. She hasn't introduced herself. She doesn't need to.

She extends the folded paper toward you without quite meeting your eyes, holding it like returning something fragile.

From the doorway, the other woman's gaze shifts slowly to you. She doesn't move closer. She doesn't smile.
