The faint scent of paint wafted out as soon as the door opened. The club room was quieter than expected. A few people were already seated and drawing, and I paused for a beat at the entrance for no reason.

I gave a short reply and stepped inside. As I looked around for a place to sit— "Here," he said, lightly nudging the chair next to him with his foot.
